The Challenge

For a year I tracked my daily energy as a number out of 100 in a notes file. Reading 214 was last Monday. The ritual worked, but a list of numbers warns you about nothing and gives a client nothing.

The Solution

A brutalist energy gauge for freelancers. One reading a day, set against today's load, with an overdraft warning when you have said yes to too much and a capacity report you can send a client before agreeing to a deadline. Numbers large, nothing that softens a bad reading.

The Build

The build was its own experiment. I wired Flowstep's MCP server into Claude Code and used the gstack design-consultation skill to lock the system first: hex rules, type roles, a ban list of AI cliches. Constraints before production meant no cleanup pass at the end.

The six screen prototype: reading entry through to the client-facing capacity report

Key Visual

The obvious image for mental capacity is a battery or a dial. I went the other way: a brain as a particle cloud, built from a 3D model made with Claude and rebuilt as points. A scanner ring reads it as it rotates, then the particles scatter. That release is the overdraft.

Key visual: rotate, scan, release

Marketing cut: the interface in space, one screen at a time

The Outcome

A year old habit in a notes file became a working prototype, a key visual, and a marketing package. The ritual finally has an instrument built for it.
